Current Queensland ballet academy faculty

Holds Advanced diploma of dance

diploma in Pilates movement therapy - qualified on all apparatus

Established Lisa Edwards Ballet and Body Conditioning in 2019

Like many young girls, Lisa’s childhood was filled with tiaras and tutus, leading her to start her movement journey at the age of 5 at The Dance Academy in her home town of Dubbo, NSW, Australia. As her passion and ambition grew, she moved to Melbourne, graduating from the Australian Ballet School in 1999 and pursuing a career in Europe shortly after. During the following 4 years overseas, Lisa danced with Stadttheater St Gallen in Switzerland, Anhaltishes Theater Dessau and Stadttheater Koblenz in Germany while touring throughout Europe, Cuba and Croatia.

After moving back to Australia in 2004, Lisa joined the Queensland Ballet company where she was given the opportunity to perform regionally, across Asia and throughout Europe. She was promoted to Soloist in 2013, and shortly after to a Senior Soloist role.

Role Highlights

Giselle / Queen of the Willis - Giselle, Ai Gul Gaisina

Cinderella / Fairy Godmother / Summer Fairy - Cinderella, Ben Stevenson OBE

The Sylph / Lead Sylph - La Sylphide, Peter Schaufuss

Fairies of Beauty / Grace / Wisdom - Sleeping Beauty, Greg Horsman

Big Swans / Czardas Princess - Swan Lake, Ben Stevenson OBE

Sugar Plum Fairy / Snow Queen / Arabian Pas de Deux - The Nutcracker, Ben Stevenson OBE

An unfortunate pre-show accident in 2016 left Lisa with a ruptured ACL, however her rehabilitation provided the perfect opportunity to intimately learn about the injury, recovery and prevention process, and sparked her passion in helping others facing similar journeys along their road to recovery. She received her Diploma of Pilates Movement Therapy from Body Organics Education in 2017, while making a full recovery and returning to the stage the same year.

Lisa took her final bow with Queensland Ballet at the end of 2018, and joined the adjacent Queensland Ballet Academy faculty at the commencement of the 2019 school year, where she currently teaches today. Her tenure involves working with students across Classical Ballet, Technique, Repertoire, Pointe, Pilates, Body Conditioning, Character Dance and Workshops. She is intimately involved with QB’s education programs and community classes, Adopt a Dancer workshops and Mind/Body ballet workshops. During her 20th year with Queensland Ballet in 2024, Lisa coordinated and delivered a successful pilot program between Artistic Swimming Australia and QBA.

Since 2019, Lisa has guest taught, coached and adjudicated across Australia, New Zealand and Asia, and enthusiastically continues as the patron of Dance Masters International. She is excited to share her passions for dance and Pilates into 2025.
